Filet Mignon FAQs
Our Filet Mignon Steaks are individually vacuumed-sealed in heat-stable packaging. This makes it easy for you to thaw and cook one or more at a time. The heat-stable packaging is sous-vide-ready, allowing you to easily add the vacuum-packaged steak to your sous vide water bath if that is your cooking method of choice!
The Filet Mignon (also known as a Filet or Beef Tenderloin Steak) is cut from the Beef Tenderloin. The Tenderloin is by far the most tender cut of beef. The Filet Mignon is also incredibly lean, has a buttery-rich, melt-in-your-mouth texture and a mild beef flavor.
Yes! Filet Mignon Steaks are made by cutting steaks out of the larger Beef Tenderloin. When it is not cut to make Filet Mignon Steaks, the Beef Tenderloin can be found as a large roast or cut into smaller roast to make Chateaubriand Tenderloin Roasts.
The ideal thickness for a Filet Mignon Steak is between 1½ and 2½ inches thick. This is because a thicker steak allows for the center to be better insulated while cooking, allowing you to be more exact when it comes to your desired degree of doneness. This might sound like a very thick steak, but during cooking the steak will shrink a bit.
A better question might be, why not? We take our already tender, juicy, buttery-rich textured Filet Mignon and wrap it in bacon to produce one of the best flavor and texture combinations. When cooked, the incredibly tender Filet Mignon paired with crispy bacon is delicious.
